The Weight of the Cross

Key Verse:
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” — John 19:30 (NIV)

Scripture References:
Isaiah 53:3–6, John 19:16–30, Colossians 2:13–15

Devotional:
Good Friday is heavy.

The cross stands as both a place of suffering and a symbol of salvation. Jesus is beaten, mocked, and crucified. The Son of God bears the weight of sin—not His own, but ours.

Every nail, every wound, every moment of agony tells a story:
This is how far love will go.

And then—three words change everything:
It is finished.

Not “I am finished.”
But “It is finished.”

The debt of sin—paid.
The power of death—defeated.
The way to God—opened.

The cross was not the end.
It was the turning point of eternity.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the cross. Thank You for bearing what I could not carry. Help me never take Your sacrifice lightly. May I live in the freedom You died to give. Amen.
